Review: Birthday Cake Bites from Drizzilicious
Birthday Cake Bites from Drizzilicious are mini rice cakes with a sweet birthday cake flavor...
Cocojune Mixed Berry Overnight Oats are a nice option for a low sugar, vegan, and gluten free breakfast on the go. This variety is made with coconut yogurt, berries, and steel cut oats.
Cocojune creates probiotic coconut yogurts and overnight oats. All of their products are gluten free, dairy free, and organic. The probiotic strains used in their yogurts have been researched extensively for potency. These include: bifidobacterium anim. s. lactis BB-12, lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5, lactobacillus paracasei CRL 431, lactobacillus delbrueckii s. bulgaricus, and streptococcus thermophilus. They offer both unsweetened and lightly sweetened yogurts. Because the overnight oats are made with their yogurt, they’re also packed with probiotics.
The full ingredients list is very simple: coconut yogurt, oats, blueberries, raspberries, black currants, and apple syrup. A package contains 5 grams total sugar, 3 grams fiber, and 3 grams protein. I don’t think this is enough for a full meal, but it was enough to hold me over. You’d probably need 2 packages to fill up on these, because a single serving contains only 150 calories.
The texture of the overnight oats is perfectly thick. I really like that steel cut oats were used instead of rolled oats, because this has a nice amount of chew. It’s just a touch sweet and has a good bit of tang from the coconut yogurt, which is what I prefer. If you’re someone who likes a lot of syrup with your oats, you’ll probably need to sweeten this a bit.
I think that the berry flavor would benefit from having a jam swirl of some sort, just for variation in texture and taste, but overall it’s really pleasant and mild. It’s worth noting that there are raspberry seeds in the blend. If you’re sensitive to berry seeds getting stuck in your teeth then you might want to try a different flavor.
I enjoyed these overnight oats more than expected! As far as quick grocery store breakfast options go, it’s a healthy and balanced choice and has way less sugar than most gluten and dairy-free breakfast subs. Also love that it’s full of probiotics. A slightly larger serving size would be nice, but it’s reasonably priced for what you get. Next time I buy this, I’ll just top with some extra fruit and nuts to make it more of a meal.
